About
The Artist
Growing
up on a farm in beautiful Buck’s County, Pennsylvania, Betsy Thomson spent
her early childhood listening to classical music and local musicians strum out
familiar tunes from America’s musical heritage. After losing her
father to cancer at a young age, Thomson a true believer in
natural and cosmic forces often walked the
ever-changing fields and woods searching for angels and
fairies, while walking
Thomson would often be singing newly learned or composed
songs to help express the wealth of emotion inside. |
She pursued a degree in theatre and performing arts at
DeSales University in Center Valley, PA. Having begun voice
study while still in school, she gave her first classical
recital at the age of 21.
Upon graduation, she took off for England where she
performed with the London Philharmonic Choir before
returning to the Big Apple. There she quickly established
herself as a “performer to watch,” writing her own
compositions that allowed her the greater musical and vocal
freedom she had long desired.
After cultivating a solid following
in New York’s club scene, Thomson went on tour, appearing in
Philadelphia and other cities in Pennsylvania, Arizona and
South Dakota before getting an invitation to sing in
Ireland, the land of her ancestors. The experience earned
her immediate popularity and a featured spot on the BBC. A
major breakthrough followed when her song “Missions of my
Mind” hit the European airwaves, shooting to number one on
Radio Fedra.
